MCX Futures Sharp Recovery & Global Bullion Drivers
Gold and silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) are tracking a sharp recovery in global bullion, aided by a weaker US dollar and softening US Treasury yields.
Active December gold futures settled at ₹1,43,234 per 10 grams, gaining ₹3,782 or 2.71% from the previous close, while December silver futures surged by ₹8,037 or 4.48% to settle at ₹1,87,735 per kg, as observed by Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus.com.
Subburaj noted that the rally reflects renewed physical and speculative demand for precious metals after US midterm political dynamics weighed on the greenback. Lower Treasury yields heighten the investment appeal of non-yielding assets such as gold, while a softer dollar lowers procurement costs for overseas buyers.
City-Wise Gold Rates Across Metros & Expert Strategy
Across key metropolitan jewelry hubs: in Chennai, 18-carat gold stood at ₹10,955 per 1 gram (₹1,09,550 per 10 grams) and 22-carat gold at ₹13,385 per 1 gram (₹1,33,850 per 10 grams). Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad traded at comparable levels, reflecting uniform inter-state transit parity.
According to market experts, the recovery path may remain volatile as central banks continue to navigate interest rate probabilities. For Indian buyers, currency movements remain pivotal alongside international spot quotations; a weaker rupee amplifies domestic price inflation.
Subburaj concluded that while the immediate market bias is constructive, retail buyers should avoid aggressive chasing during sudden vertical spikes. Staggered purchases during minor intraday pullbacks remain the prudent strategy ahead of Diwali deliveries.
